Topsham- James “Jamie” Lavallee Sr., 52, passed away Friday, October 28, 2022 at camp in Oxbow, Maine with Hazy, his loyal Labrador Retriever by his side. He was born in Lewiston on July 9, 1970, the son of Roger L. and Shelia A. Lavallee Sr. He graduated from Lisbon High School in the class of 1988. After high school, he began a long career at Bath Iron Works. He started out in Bath as a shipfitter in 1989 before becoming an outside machinist. During his 33 years at BIW, Jamie was a proud and active Local 6 Union member, most recently serving as Vice President. On September 14, 1991, he married his high school sweetheart, Rande Wallace. They made their home in Topsham and spent the next 31 years raising their family together.
Jamie was a member of the Slovak Catholic Association for 31 years and a long-time member of the Left-Hand Club. In his earlier years, Jamie coached for the Lewiston Fly Football League and was the Assistant Coach for Oak Hill High School. He was passionate about all sports but most importantly his beloved New York Giants.
In his free time, Jamie enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, trapping, being the captain of his new F/V Madelyn Amelia, and spending time with family and friends. Jamie was an avid hunter and a true outdoorsman, his most treasured accomplishment was creating a family hunting camp in Northern Maine, “Oxbow Hunt & Fish Club” Est. in 2008. His love for the outdoors led him and his wife, Rande to become registered Maine Guides in order to spend more time in the North Maine Woods.
Jamie’s personality was larger than life, he loved fiercely and lived fully. He always said, “tomorrow is not promised, life is short, live everyday like it’s your last” and he did just that. His values, sense of humor, loyalty and of course his opinions, will live on in all the lives he touched. His family hopes wherever he is now the Miller Lite is always cold, the Giants are always winning, the fish are always biting, and he gets the “Big Buck” and “Monday Moose” on every hunt.
He is survived by his wife, Rande Lavallee of Topsham; their three children, Samantha Thibeault and her husband Andrew of Topsham, Carly Remsen and her husband, Neil of Topsham, and James Lavallee Jr., also of Topsham. Jamie’s most cherished role in life was being “Pepe” to four grandchildren, Kooper, Logan, Madelyn and Ameila. In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren he leaves behind his mother, Sheila Lavallee of Lisbon; sister, Kelley Campana of Belleair Bluffs, Florida; brother, Bruce Lavallee and wife Donna of Sabattus; father and mother in-law, Roy and Julie Wallace of Topsham; many special nieces and nephews. Jamie also surrounded himself with several lifelong friends that he considered family. He is predeceased by his father, Roger Lavallee Sr., a brother Roger Lavallee Jr. and a sister Deborah Wilson.
All are welcome to an open house celebrating Jamie’s life with his family on November 12, 2022 from 1pm-4pm at the Slovak Catholic Association in Lisbon. Please dress comfortably and car pool if possible as parking is limited. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: Slovak Catholic Association College Scholarship Fund, 26 Avery Street, Lisbon Falls, Maine 04252 or Junior Maine Guides, C/O Maine Summer Camps, PO Box 1861, Portland, ME 04104
I’ve been friends with Jamie for several years. He and his family went out of their way in the middle of the night to drive from Topsham to Portage in 2016 to help me and Joe drag out a moose. Jamie was one of those guys who would give you the shirt off his back. My prayers go out to those left behind
Jamie will be dearly missed by so many. There are so many stories that come to mind. Gone physically but always in our heart and memories. My heart goes out to all who had the honor of having him in their life.
Jamie was one of the most fun and good spirited individuals I ever had the privilege of working with at LS6. He was smart, funny, and fair. I’m really going to miss him. Rest easy.
Jim was a classmate great guy passionate loyal devoted always willing to help and or offer assistance of any kind he will be missed
Jim was a classmate , always willing to help loyal devoted passionate
My first memory of Jamie was back in 2011 when he pulled into our driveway in a black pick up. When he got out of the truck, all I could think about was Thank God some one to stop and talk for a while. Like Jamie we built our cabin in Oxbow and at that time neighborly visits were the only time we stopped hammering. We will miss seeing the truck, the dog and our neighbor driving down the dirt road that is Oxbow North. The Parino Family
Gosh, this breaks my heart. We were just talking about James a week ago. We lived around the corner from the Lavallee family for a while when I was a kid. James was the “nice” kid. We didn’t keep in touch over the years, but I have always thought of him with a good memory and a smile. Sending so much love to all who have been lucky enough to know and love him.
Although he hated my Patriots and Tom Brady I always forgave him… and that was his only flaw. I will, however, root for the Giants as his voice and wish they do get to the Super Bowl. I also remember he asked me for help with this “small job”. Chipping trees and brush ready for his new home in Topsham. The pile was bigger than a mountain. Of course, he laughed, and didn’t think finishing it was a problem.
Good memories of one heck of a guy.
You will be missed

Now James can hunt and fish with Dad.
Love you all!
I hope you’re up there enjoying the great outdoors. RIP Jamie! Sending hugs to the family and I hope you can find a little peace in all the beautiful memories Jamie left behind during this heartbreaking time. ❤️❤️
