James A. Hartley
James A. Hartley, 66, of Alfred, died at his home on Tuesday, December 17, 2013.James was born on May 23, 1947 to Earl and Elaine Hartley in Sanford where he grew up and attended local schools. James proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where he had been employed for many years as a welder.James liked welding and spending time at the ocean. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed going hunting, bow hunting, fishing and spending time outside. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather and spending time with his family was very special to him. He will be remembered as a kind-hearted and generous man and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.James was predeceased by a daughter, Heather Hartley.Surviving are his daughter, Hollie Hartley of Shapleigh; four grandchildren, Candice Parker of Waterboro, Austin Brown of Alfred, Kadin Brown of Alfred and Chaler Brown of Alfred and two siblings, Steve Hartley and Cindy Houde.A memorial service with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 28th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
