James A Densmore, a long time resident of Shapleigh, ME, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 28, 2016. A native of Gloucester, MA Jim was born October 1, 1943 to the late Capt. Michael Densmore and Mary Densmore Flynn.Jim is survived by his wife Stephanie Pratt Densmore of Shapleigh, ME, his son Brendan and wife Bobbie of Wells, ME; his daughter Anne Black and her husband Paul, granddaughter Alezandra, great granddaughters Sienna and Elise of Newton Falls, OH; brother Michael Densmore of Gloucester, MA and sisters Anne Cavanaugh and husband Dennis of Myrtle Beach, S.C, Katherine Canillas and husband John of Deltona, FL, Mary Atwood and Ronald of Orlando, FL, Peggy Teeling and Brendan of Ipswich, MA and many nieces and nephews.He was pre-deceased by his son Seamus Densmore and sister Betty Lafata and brother Brendan Densmore.Jim was a graduate of Gloucester High School and holds an Associate's Degree from University of So. ME.He enlisted in the Marine Corps and attained the rank of Sgt while serving in Vietnam. Prior to being deployed to Vietnam he toured with the Marine Corps Golf Team. He was honorably discharged and awarded a Purple Heart.He was an avid New England sports fan and loved Notre Dame Football. Jim coached numerous youth sports including baseball, football, soccer and hockey. He was a coach and founder of the Mahoning Valley Youth Hockey Association in Ohio. At Bass Rocks Golf Club in Gloucester, MA in 1963, at the age of 19, he held the title of the youngest Club Champion.Visiting hours will be on Thursday, December 1st from 5 to 7PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. Visiting hours will also be held from 10 to 11:30AM on Friday, December 2nd followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12noon at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Notre Dame Church, 10 Payne Street, Springvale.
