James R. Day
December 16, 1966 ~ December 14, 2018
Portland - James Robert "Seamus" Day, 51, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018 after a brief illness at Maine Medical Center.
Born in Portland on December 16, 1966, Jimmy was the son of Roger and Judith (Heskett) Day. He attended South Portland and Wiscassett schools before he enlisted in the United States Navy.
For over 30 years, Seamus worked his tail off as a commercial fisherman. He loved the sea, his friendships and the life of a fisherman.
In 1992, Jimmy met the love of his life, Lisa Goodine, at a Halloween party. Since then they have been inseparable, doing everything together. They shared many laughs, trips and a lot of time at the race track.
Jimmy was best described as a very loving and considerate man who loved to have fun. He was a diehard Minnesota Vikings fan, a member and treasurer of the AMVETS Post 25 in Portland and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
He was predeceased by his father, Roger Day.
He is survived by his loving soul mate, Lisa Goodine of Portland; mother, Judy Day of South Portland; sister, Michelle L. Day of South Portland; brother, Scott M. Day of Japan; his adored nieces and nephews, Talya Leigh, Noah Seamus and Koyu Roger; Lisa's children who adored Jimmy, Steven and Shawn; his aunts and uncles and his beloved cat, Smokey Earle.
The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses and doctors at Maine Medical Center who cared for Seamus.
Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, December 28 from 4-6PM at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland followed by a Celebration of Jimmy's Life at 6PM. To view Seamus' memorial page, or to share an online condolence, please visit www.ConroyTullyWalker.com.

Jim – you were my hero and I know you were dad’s hero too. I still do not forgive you for putting tobasco sauce in my ice cream when you were the babysitter one time. But iroincally enough I love tobasco sauce now. I do not believe you should have gone first, that was my job and now what do I do? I am in Japan and as you know, I shared with you fish is life here. Every time I see a fish I think of you and I will think of you. Thank you for being such a good brother and showing your love always without question. I know it was probably hard at times. Don’t worry Lisa will take care of the truck – and I will try my best to take care of ma from Japan. I know you are with the best of them now, dad, Rhonda, Da, Gramps, Gram, and of course Mam. Keep your head up. Fair winds, and following seas. Scott

Fisherman’s Prayer I pray that I may live to fish Until my dying day. And when it comes to my last cast, I then most humbly pray: When in the Lord’s great landing net And peacefully asleep That in His mercy I be judged Big enough to keep.
