PORTLAND - James Edward Conley, 93, of Portland, died May 8, 2014 at Maine Medical Center. He was born in Portland on June 10, 1920 a son of Stephen M. and Annie (Conley) Conley. James attended the Portland School for the Blind. James resided for numerous years at the Iris Network in Portland, Maine. He was a former communicant of St. Dominic's Church, a former member of the Ponoma Grange and the Cape Elizabeth Grange. He was a well-known accordion player who often played on St. Patrick's Day at the Irish Heritage Center. James was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Mary B. Canales, Ellen T. Conley; three brothers, Patrick J. Conley, Timothy M. Conley, Stephen F. Conley and his special niece Ann Connors. James is survived by nieces Joan Diamond, NY, Ellen Taggart, CA, Lorraine DeCarlo, FL and a nephew Robert Canales, CA. Special thanks are given to caregivers Nicki Papas and Michelle Glen and the staff of Iris Network. Visitation will be held Thursday 2 - 4 P.M. at Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland. Prayers will be recited 8:15 a.m. Friday at the funeral home followed by a 9:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart/St. Dominic's Church, 65 Mellen Street, Portland. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Iris Network, 189 Park Ave, Portland Maine 04102.Online condolences may be expressed below.

  2. Jim was a current member of a Highland Lake Grange, since 1968. He always brought a positive, cheerful spirit with him to Grange meetings. His Brothers and Sisters at Highland Lake will miss him dearly.
