James “Jim” Clyde Folsom, 67, of Sanford, Maine, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.
Born on August 4, 1958, in Millinocket, Maine, James was the son of Clyde and Carolyn Folsom. He graduated from Bangor High School in 1976 where he was coined the nickname “Wizard at Three” He then went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maine at Orono in 1981.
For the last sixteen years, James was a dedicated Senior Manufacturing Engineer at Vishay, where his intelligence, curiosity, and problem solving nature shone through. He was known for his life long passion for understanding how things worked – often taking them apart just to put them back together even better than before.
James was a devoted husband to his wife, Patricia, for 46 wonderful years. He married the love of his life on July 7,1979, and together raised two children, Jamie and Scott, who were the pride and joy of his life.
James was known for his humor, warmth, and gentle soul. He was always the first to lend a helping hand, the life of the party with a karaoke song, and the heart of every family gathering- insisting on capturing each moment with a photo. An avid outdoorsman, James loved spending time in his “toy box,” the garage he filled with his favorite powersports vehicles.
Above all, James found his greatest joy in his five grandchildren; Go-karting together, s’mores at sleepovers, sledding, trips to Storyland and Santa’s Village. He was their Grampy, always up for fun and made every moment special.
James is predeceased by his parents, Clyde and Carolyn Folsom. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Folsom; his daughter, Jamie Lovejoy, and her husband, Adam; his son, Scott Folsom, and his wife, Jessica; his brothers, Edmund Folsom, and his wife, Lauren, and Douglass Folsom and his wife, Laurie; his five grandchildren, Alivia & Ava Lovejoy; Erana, Kathryn & Rowen Folsom; also several nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Jim’s laughter, kindness, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A time of Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 29th from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Black Heald and Walker Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale with a memorial service on Thursday, October 30 at 10:30 A.M. also at Black Heald Walker Funeral Home.

To Jim’s family, I grieve with you. I wish for you peace and love. God bless.
Sorry to hear of his passing.
This is Bill Houser and Linda Wright. Just to say how sorry we are about the passing of Jim. He was one of the most awesome person we every meant in our lives. Bye the way so are you. First time I meant Jim in Aruba I was trying to sing a karaoke song New York New York. I really sucked. This guy walked up behind me an ask if he could join in. When the song was done everyone clapped. Because of Jim. Also that year he was handing out glow in the dark necklaces and bracelets to who ever wanted one. When we got back to our room that night we found two necklaces hanging around our patio railing with a bottle of wine, His memory and smile will always be with us. Bless you Patty and your family.
Jimmy always has a special place in my heart. I hold fond memories of times spent together in our childhood. His smile was contagious, his songs ,delightfully sung, his love for family….abundant. My heart goes out to all of you. Rest in peace my dear cousin. Love Barb
