Irma Richard, 89, passed away peacefully at Greenwood Center on October 5th.She was born on December 10, 1916 in St. Claude, Quebec, Canada where she lived until she married and came to the United States. She was the daughter of George John Houle and Severine (Richard) Houle.She was a multi-classroom teacher in St. Claude through the age of 28, and then was privileged to be a devoted wife, loving mother and friend to many in Sanford.A communicant of Holy Family church, she was a member of the Ladies of Ste. Ann and the Daughters of Isabella.She had a warm and gentle personality that people found endearing. Her memorable times were spent with her family and friends at the cottage on Square Pond.She was predeceased by her husband, Harvey Richard who died in 1975, and by three brothers Lorenzo Houle, Antonio Houle and Remi Houle and their wives.She leaves behind two loving sons and their wives, Gerald and Janet Richard, Leo and Doris Richard and a daughter, Lucile Seavey, all of Sanford, a sister and her husband Dorea and Raymond St. Pierre of St. Claude, PQ. Her love of children was carried on to her four grandchildren, Melissa Desrocher and husband Dennis of Alfred, Michael Richard of Portland, OR, Rick and Allyson Seavey of Sanford. She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren, two step-granddaughters, and two step-great granddaughters and many nieces and nephews in the USA and Canada.Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 1 PM at Holy Family Church. Burial will be in St. Ignatius Cemetery on Tuesday.The family would like to extend its appreciation to the staffs of H. D.
