Howard W. Brown
Howard William Brown, 89, of Sanford, passed away on March 13, 2013 at the Exeter Hospital. He was born in Sanford, ME, on November 30, 1923, a son of the late Orlando and Marguerite (Howard) Brown. He graduated from Sanford High School in 1943 and attended the University of New Hampshire before joining the Army, serving in WWII. He was in the Army Intelligence and stationed in England.He owned the Brown and Harrison Packard dealership (1946-1952) and the Brown Hardware store both located in Sanford. He worked for General Motors Chevrolet Motor Division, Ford Motor Company, and Holman Enterprises during his career. He loved Packard's, restoring antique cars, and in 1999 was honored as a former Packard dealer at the Packard Club Centennial meet in Ohio. He attended many Packard antique car meets in Florida and New England. He and his wife have spent much of their lives enjoying living in the New England area. They had just recently returned to the Exeter, NH area. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Clark Brown, his daughter, Linda Anne Brown, his brother Orlando Wendell Brown, Jr. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 1:00 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
