Herbert "Skip" L. Chase Jr. 73, of Sanford died on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at his residence. He was born on January 2, 1949, to Herbert and Barbara (Ranger) Chase in Portland where he grew up and attended Portland Schools and graduated from York High School in 1969. He served in the Army from 1970 to 1972 and was honorably discharged as an SP4 (E-4). He was part of the 128th Evacuation Hospital in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict. Skip was with his loving, caring wife Patricia (Aldrich) Chase for 50 years and together they had two children. Skip loved to paint and watch Bob Ross on television with his "happy trees". He also enjoyed going fishing at Number One Pond and going for rides to the beach and mountains. He found comfort in his strict daily routine. He had dedicated times to watch shows, eat and play games on his tablet. He also loved spending time with his family, feeding the birds, and time with his wife Patty. He is predeceased by his parents, and his sister Carol Anne Chase. Survivors include his wife, his daughter Tammy-Lynn and her partner Eric of Lyman, his son Jason Chase and his wife Tasha of Sanford, two grandchildren Xavier J. and Makayla J. Chase, his brother Frank Eugene Chase, and many extended family members. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, April 15, 2022 at 12:00 P.M. at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 82 Stanley Road in Springvale.
