  7. A very few times in life someone crosses your path who turns out to be someone who it seems like you always knew. Better yet someone you did not lose as a friend no matter how far forks in the road took you apart. It always just fit.Herb was that to me. We worked together, played sports and skied together, partied together and made a wonderful vacation trip together with our wonderful wives Sheila and Carol. All this even though our time in close proximity was limited to only a couple years followed by many apart. The lives of all who knew him are better for having known Herb.

  9. Herb and my wife went to Deering High together and enjoyed each others company. That gave me the chance to meet a wonderful human being. It’s impossible to recall the number of times Herb’s name came up in conversation, but easy to remember how often the recollection involved fun, and enjoyable times. It was every time, and that is the true mark of a person’s impact upon the world. He will be sorely missed by me and mine as well as by anyone with the good fortune to have met him.

  13. The terrible news of Herb’s passing reached me in New Mexico. We share your grief over the loss of a wonderful husband and parent. As a younger Rotarian, Herb was always a wonderful mentor, fellow volunteer, and friend. He represented all that was good about Maine citizens.Don Zillman
