Henry Gnade

Henry Gnade, Jr., 89, of Sanford, Springvale, and formerly of Lebanon, ME and Lexington, MA, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 25, 2016. Henry was born on June 9, 1927 in Allentown, PA, the son of Henry and Henrietta (Walchenbach) Gnade. Henry graduated from Lexington High School prior to serving in the US Navy Hospital Corps during WWII. He graduated from Burdett College in Accounting and Business Administration and Northeastern University in Engineering and Management.Henry spent 22 years in industry management with Dewey & Almy Chemical Co.,/W.R. Grace and Polaroid Corp., and 27 years in merchandising as co-owner, with his wife and manager of the Mustard Seed Hobby Shop in Sanford. Also and simultaneously, due to independent study, he was privileged to pastor the First Congregational Church of Lebanon for 18 years and serve as a director of the Sanford Savings and Loan Association American Bank.. He also served on several committees and organizations in both Lebanon and Sanford.Henry was predeceased by his parents and by two sisters, Doris and Shirley.Henry married Evelyn M. (Lynne) Seagrave on August 19, 1950. They were blessed with the birth of two sons; W. Scott of Dexter, ME, and Mark H. of Sanford. These sons added to the joys of life with their marriages to Brenda L and Lynn A. Downs, respectively and the subsequent joyful additions of nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren during their (66) years of togetherness. Henry is also survived by his sister, Connie and her husband from Utah.A funeral service for Henry will be held on Tuesday November 29th at 1PM at the Springvale First Baptist Church.
