Portland - Helen J. Cody, 83, of Concord Street died peacefully on Thursday, February 5, 2015, at her home following several years of declining health. In her spare time she loved cooking, baking, canning, and entertaining family and friends. Helen was known for hosting all of the major holiday gatherings and family events. Helens greatest love was the time she spent with her family, especially her granddaughter. She was an active member of St. Louis Church for many years, serving on many committees and helping any way she could. She eagerly contributed her baking talents to bake sales and church suppers. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the wonderful caregivers, including Barbara and Milly, who assisted Helen during her illness. So sad to see that Helen had passed. My Mom and Dad thought the world of her and shared many happy memories with her family, times at Sebago, bus trips and get togethers just to name a few. She was a woman with a strong faith, strong loyalty to family and friends and a twinkle in her eyes that matched her very fun sense of humor. A real gem who will always be thought of warmly by the Gillespie family. Xoxo

To the Cody family,I’m so sorry to hear about your mom passing away. She always had a twinkle in her eye and I enjoyed her baked goods at our church fairs. I will treasure the moments we had together at the church suppers and mass.

I’m truly sorry for the passing of my grandmother. I’m saddened by the fact that not only in this tragedy, but my father’s death, Thomas, I have been the last to know. I have wanted nothing more than to know who my family is, my whole life. Feel free to be the first to help me find out who I really am.
– Her grandson.
