Hector P. Beattie

Hector P. Beattie, 92, a lifelong resident of Sanford, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the Pavillion in Sanford. He was born in Sanford on December 25, 1925 a son of the late Paul and Blanche (Morin) Beattie. He graduated from Sanford High School in 1944. Following graduation he served in the Army Air Force.In 1954 he started working for General Electric and was employed by the company for 34 years. He worked as a computer data manager, computer programmer and was supervisor of programming and maintenance. A lifelong communicant of St. Ignatius Parish he served on the parish board, family life commission, Eucharistic minister, lector and longtime member of the choir and board of director of the St. Ignatius Credit Union.He served as past president of the Town Club, member of the Sanford Golf Club, member of the Board of Directors of the Somersworth G.E. Employees Credit Union. He was also a member of the American Legion, Lions Club, 4th Degree member of the Knights of ColumbusHe is survived by his wife of 71 years, Anita (Mary) Beaudoin Beattie, children, Carolyn Burgess and her husband, Daniel, Paul Beattie and his wife, Carolyn, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great great grandson, two brothers, Mark Beattie, Andrew Beattie, two sisters, Helen Trembaly, Sarah Beattie, sister in law, Jeannine Beattie.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday March 9 at 11AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church.
