Harvey L. Armstrong

Harvey L. Armstrong, of Gorham, formerly of Scarborough and Machias, died at the Gorham House after a short illness on June 22, 2016, just weeks before his 100th birthday. Born July 4, 1916, Harvey was the son of the late Phillip and Christy Armstrong. In addition to his parents, Harvey is predeceased by his beloved wife, Irene (McBriety) Armstrong; daughter, Suzanne McCarthy; brother, Orin Robert Armstrong; sister, Lillian Demers. He is survived by his sons, James and his wife Carol of Duxbury, MA, Thomas of AZ, and Joseph Jack and his wife Lynne of FL. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Visiting Hours will be held at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland on Monday from 9:30-10:15AM followed by an 11AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, 150 Blackpoint Road, Scarborough. My condolences to the family. Harvey was my second cousin being a first cousin to my father Barney Armstrong. Two years ago while in Portland, a friend and I visited Harvey at the Gorham House. Enjoyed our time with him, reminiscing about family and Machias. His memory amazed us.
