Harold Henry "Pat"Sargent, 94, formally of Ashburnham, MA died in his home in Springvale, ME Friday November 8th after a lengthy illness. Harold was born in Gardner, MA ,son of the late Harold A. Sargent and Letina Seeley Sargent Hook and was raised is Templeton, MAUntil the age of 92 Pat lived independently during winters in Titusville, FL surrounded by a camaraderie of many friends. His summers were spent in Maine with his family, daughter and son in-law, and the past winter in Pompano Beach, FL.Harold was a World War ll Veteran and was very proud to have served his country. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre as an electrician on the USS LSM 90 Landing Ship Medium until 1946. He received the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the WWll Victory Medal, the Navy Occupation Service Medal and the Philippines Liberation Medal. There, he also earned his nickname Pat. In 1949, Pat married his wife of 56 years, Lois Lashua, they lived in Ashburnham MA where he built a home and raised two children. Pat owned several Auto Body shops and became and retired a Senior Claims Representative for Sentry Insurance. For over twenty years he served as Veterans Service Agent in Ashburnham, MA. He was an active member of the Donald A. Gates V.F.W.Post 5509, the Thomas Sweeney American Legion Post 0142 in Ashburnham, a member of the Elks Lodge and of the LSM Association.Pat was fond of genealogy, tracing family roots back into the 1800's. In the summers he enjoyed traveling with his family throughout Maine, especially Lubec, where his mother grew up. In later years he traveled with Lois to attend many Navy LSM conventions throughout the United States. In the past thirteen years he traveled with his family to Washington, D.C. to visit the World War ll Memorial, Las Vegas, NV, a highlight of his life European tour of Germany, Switzerland and Austria with his grandson Jordan, New Orleans, LA to visit the World War ll Museum, yearly summer vacations in Newport, RI and many family vacations in Disney World. He never forgot taking his grandson Kyle to a LSM convention in Milwaukee where warm chocolate chip cookies were served on the plane.He was a kind man, sharp well into his 90's with a heart of gold. He was loved for his sense of humor and his insatiable laugh that always turned into a giggle. He took great pride in his beer tapper and would lure anyone into his home to visit and have a beer! Harold is survived by his daughter Deborah and her husband Ricky Landry of Springvale ME, his grandson Kyle, his wife Tara, and great grandson of eleven years, Braeden Harold Landry of Sanford, ME and his grandson Jordan Landry, now serving in Cairo, Egypt with the U.S. Army. He is also survived by a son Timothy and his wife Susan of Phillipston, MA, a granddaughter Quinn Sargent, a grandson Patrick Sargent, his brother David Sargent of Connersville, IN. and his childhood friend and brother in-law, John Amadon.He is predeceased by three sisters, Pearl Beaman, Ann Chalmers, and Francis Pierce, three brothers, Harold Hook, Harold Sargent and Phillip Sargent.
