Harland L. DeHaven, of Springvale passed away on April 8, 2016 at the Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough. He had been disabled from multiple schlerosis for many years. He was born on November 22, 1926 a son of the late Adam and Gertrude DeHaven. He attended local schools and graduated from Sanford High School.He attended the University of Maine in Brunswick. He also served in the US Navy during WWII. He had been employed at the Goodall Worsted Mills and United Auto Parts Company. He went to work for Pratt & Whitney in North Berwick until his retirement at the age of 65. In 1948 he married the former Marilyn Logan and together had one son, Timothy Adam.He was a lifelong member of the Sanford Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and served as a Deacon for many years.He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marilyn L. DeHaven of Springvale, one son, Timothy DeHaven, daughter in law, Lisa and grandson, Adam James, step granddaughter, Nicole McDonald. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.There will be no services.Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donations in his memory to the Sanford First Baptist Church, 905 Main Street, Sanford, ME 04073.
