Hampy (Hampton) J. Michaud, 84, of Biddeford, formerly of Fort Kent and Sanford, died in Sanford, on Sunday, June 21, 2015.Hampy was born on April 11, 1931 to Ludger and Elizabeth (Pelletier) Michaud in Fort Kent, Maine where he grew up and attended local schools. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for two years before returning to Fort Kent where he held several jobs including working for the railroad and harvesting potatoes. After staying in Fort Kent for several years Hampy relocated to Waterville and then to Bristol, Connecticut where he lived for many years and was employed at Stanley Plating. He eventually returned to Maine and relocated several times before settling in Sanford nine years ago. For the last few months he had resided at the Biddeford Estates in Biddeford.Hampy loved country music and he liked to sing along anytime that he could, regardless of where he was. Family was very important to him and he always enjoyed spending time with them. He was an animal lover and was especially fond of his dog Sam who passed away in February. Hampy was a devout Catholic and had been a communicant of St. John Vianney Parish, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the American Legion in Waterville. Hampy was also an avid baseball fan. He will be remembered as a loving and friendly man and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Hampy was predeceased by his parents, a daughter, Bonita Sue Michaud and four siblings, Paul Michaud, Joel Michaud, Rosaire Michaud, Rita Little and Bernadine Charette.Surviving are four children, Joyce Farley and her husband Jerry of Springvale, Joel Michaud of Cushing, Maine, Gail Scribner and her husband Don of Washington, Maine and Terry Michaud of Jefferson, Maine; five grandchildren, Bonnie Lee, Brian Farley and his wife Lisa, Crystal Nyerick, Cory Nyerick and Chera Nyerick; 10 great-grandchildren; his former spouse, Rita Pelletier; two siblings, Annette Bouley and Rolande Daigle and many nieces and nephews.A graveside service with military honors will be held at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, June 30th at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery located on Stanley Road in Springvale.Hampy's family would like to recognize his friends at St. John Vianney Parish, especially Fr.
