Gunnar Munnick Single, 59, of Lyman passed away at 6:40 a.m., Friday, December 11, 2015, at his home. He was born on April 22, 1956, in Alexandria, Indiana to the late Reverend Paul George Single and Carolyn Single Essel (Munnick). Also preceding him in death was his brother, Wesley Robert Duling. He is survived by his wife, Veronica Jean Single of Lyman, ME, step children Tracey Dunnington of Wareham, MA, Megan Semple also of Wareham, MA, Erik Thorell of Brookline, NH, sisters Ellen Vigil of East Boston, MA and Paula Squires of Wilbraham, MA, sister-in law Jean Saunders Duling of Lyman, ME and his brother William Single and sister-in-law Irene Cote Single of Lyman, ME. Gunnar loved his home which he built and shared with his wife of 18 years in Lyman, ME. He was a graduate of South Shore Vocational Technical High School in Hanover, MA, and of East Coast Aero Technical School in Lexington, MA where he studied to become an Aviation Mechanic. Gunnar ran his own business Gun-Air, LLC for 11 years, working out of his own hangar built on his property at his home, fixing and servicing helicopters around the country. He spent much of his time consulting and certifying aircraft for Ryan Rotors in Plymouth, MA. Prior to starting his own business, he worked for Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, CT, Plymouth Copters in Plymouth, MA, and Firefly in Carver, MA. He was a gifted master mechanic, able to fix anything ranging from small motors (his nephew's go-carts), to cars and trucks restoring many antiques, to helping relatives with golf carts and twisters, to helicopters and airplanes across the country. He was a best friend to many, including his siblings, cousins, nephews and nieces, and was the god father of Nicole Dalton, Timothy Feagins, Carol Squires, and Christopher Squires. He was a humble, gentle soul, always there for those in need, and always enjoying life's simple pleasures including NASCAR, lobster and steak dinners, and time with family and friends.A service will be held on Tuesday, December 15 starting at 2:00 p.m. at Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford Maine. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
