Grace (Michele) Landry, 84, of Springvale passed away unexpectedly with her daughters at her side on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006.She was born in Rollingsford, NH May 18, 1922 and grew up in So. Berwick, the daughter of Leo and Mary Vachon. She graduated from Berwick Academy in 1939 and received her associate's business degree from McIntosh College in New Hampshire. Grace, better known as Michele, was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, John Landry, November 1990; and by her stepson, Robert Landry, December 1993. She was a wonderful mother and wife and touched many lives. Michele worked for the Sanford School system for many years as secretary of the Middle School until she retired in 1982. For many years her favorite activity was going dancing with her husband and could be seen almost every Saturday night wherever there was a good dancing orchestra. In her later years she enjoyed going out to lunch with her daughters and friends and she especially enjoyed going shopping.She is survived by her two daughters Susan Landry Dewitz and her husband Kirk Dewitz of Alfred, Maine and Jane Landry and her husband Nate Howgate of Shapleigh, ME; 4 grandchildren Melissa Carroll, husband Sean and children Griffin, Aiden and Delaney of California; Paula Griner, husband Jim and children Hoyt and Paige of Florida; Christina Landry of California and Richard Landry of Scarborough, Maine. She had a special place in her heart for Michele Fryer of Newport, RI and Sammie and Derek Redd of Portsmouth, NH whom she held very dear and considered her grandchildren also. Also Fran Thompson of Sanford, Maine, was her special caregiver for the past 18 months. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 25, at Holy Family Church located at 66 North Ave., Sanford, with burial to follow in St. Ignatius cemetery.
