Gloria D. Appleby

Gloria D. (Wallace) Appleby, 81, a longtime resident of Buxton, passed away Saturday November 10 at Evergreen Manor in Saco, after many years of failing health.Gloria was born in Buxton on June 7, 1926 the daughter of Joseph and Alice (Junkins) Wallace and attended Buxton schools. Gloria married George W. Appleby on December 25, 1949.Gloria was a member of Pythian Sisters Narragansett Temple 111 for many years and also was a member of the Maine State Grange for more than 60 years.Gloria's interests included horse racing, playing cards, cooking, gardening, going toPortland Headlight, and most of all family gatherings and holidays.Gloria is predeceased by her husband of 51 years, George and her parents Joseph and Alice Wallace. She is survived by son Russell Appleby and his wife Kelly of Bar Mills, son Terrance Rohloff of Milwaukee, WI, daughter Jean Appleby and her partner Jerry Harmon of Biddeford, son Scott Appleby of Biddeford, son Ron Appleby and his partner Eric Ducharme of Alfred, 3 granddaughters, Denise, Krista, and Sarah Lynne Appleby, and two great grandsons, Connor Appleby and Mark Patterson.A graveside service will be conducted on Friday November 16 at 2:00 PM at South Buxton Cemetery in Buxton. Friends and family are welcome. There will be a celebration of Gloria's life at the home of Russell Appleby at 38 Fountain Street, Bar Mills immediately following.In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Gloria's name to Hollis Lions Club Prescription Eyeglass Program,C/O Carlton Berry, 196 Main Street, Buxton, Maine 04093.Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
