South Portland - Glenn V. Huston, 75, passed away unexpectedly at his home on April 11, 2024. Glenn was born on March 5, 1949 in Portland, son of the late George and Amie (Sykes) Huston. Raised in Westbrook, Glenn excelled as a cross-country athlete during his high school years. After a brief college experience in Jamestown, ND, Glenn's adventurous nature led him to Florida where he lived and worked odd jobs, including a short stint at Disney. However, his return journey to Maine was anything but ordinary, as he hitchhiked the whole way home and acquired unexpected companions along the way: a stolen parrot, a little black dog, and a massive TV. He was a dedicated cable worker, traversing the USA for his job to provide for his family and sacrificing his body climbing telephone poles around the country. His love for the outdoors was evident, finding solace in the tranquility of nature, particularly by the water. Whether it was spending time on Little Sebago Lake with his daughter or simply relaxing outside with his feet in a kiddie pool, Glenn cherished these moments deeply. He 'enjoyed' watching Fox News just to get himself worked up; one could describe Glenn as a free-spirited liberal lover. He wanted everyone to be happy and free to live the life they wanted, as that is exactly what he did. He loved everyone and everyone who met him loved him. He had an infectious smile, laugh and this wit that just couldn’t be beat. He treated everyone like family. Glenn's genuine kindness, complete selflessness, and unwavering humor endeared him to all who knew him. He approached life with a sense of spontaneity and authenticity, living each day on his own terms. After his retirement, he enjoyed living a simple life, not asking for much but giving his all to everyone. Heaven to Glenn was relaxing in his living room, watching TV with his dog at his feet. His deep affection for dogs was evident throughout his life, with each furry companion becoming a cherished member of the family. His soul is now with his beloved dogs, including Peppermint, Zach, Lacey, Lucy, and many other furry friends whom Glenn loved. Glenn's presence will be deeply missed, he leaves behind a legacy of warmth, humor, and genuine love for life that will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was authentic, empathetic and truly one of a kind. He truly loved helping people and would do anything to help somebody in need. He was an incomparable, loving father and loved his family so fiercely. He was a father figure to more than just his own kids — his children’s friends and sports teammates considered him a father figure in their lives and will always cherish those memories of him. He was always there if you needed him and was a constant support and staple in so many lives. Glenn is survived by his children, Nick Huston and his girlfriend Jessica Burton and daughter Kelly and husband Garrett Munroe; grandchildren, Caden Munroe and another boy on the way; sister, Janice and husband Roger Lowell; mother of his children, Gail Thibeault; and many nieces and nephews; best friend, Matt Violette, and his beloved dog, Harry. A Celebration of Life for Glenn will be held from 3-6pm on Friday, May 24, 2024 at Fort Williams at the ShipCove Platform, 12 Captain Strout Cir, Cape Elizabeth. We look forward to seeing you and celebrating and remembering this wonderful man. Arrangements are under the direction of Conroy-Tully Walker, South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland.

I met Glenn only a couple of times since we lived far apart, but he struck me as a kind, sweet man, only a few years older than me. I love reading what others say about him now and wish I could have known him better. Love and sympathy to all.
