Glenn E. Hobson, 58, of Alfred, died at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 following a lengthy illness.Glenn was born in Stamford, Connecticut on August 25, 1956 to Clarence and Ruth (Bagley) Hobson. His family moved to Sanford in the early 1970's and attended local schools, graduating from Sanford High School in 1974. He met the love of his life, Louann Curit at a young age and together they shared 40 years of marriage and raised three children. Following high school Glenn enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving from 1975 to 1978. After completing his enlistment he returned home and worked in the construction industry and then as a welder at Novel Iron Works in Portsmouth.Glenn loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, four-wheeling and tinkering on his many projects, as well as music. His most cherished times were spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a kind and loving man and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.He was predeceased by his father, Clarence E. Hobson and his father in law, Norman E. Curit.Surviving are his loving wife, Louann Hobson of Alfred; a daughter, Jenny Lane and her husband Richard of Alfred; two sons, David Hobson of Berlin, New Hampshire and Neil Hobson and his wife Meghan of Sanford; his mother, Ruth Hobson of North Berwick; two sisters, Carol Nash and her husband Graham of Dandridge, Tennessee and Gail Carranza and her husband Andres of Chicago, Illinois; five grandchildren, RJ, Gavin, Halleigh, Aidyn and Cory; his mother-in-law, Annette Curit of Sanford; two sisters-in-law, Norma Curit and her husband Gerard of Sanford and Cindy Fowler and her husband Mel of High Point, North Carolina and many nieces, nephews and other close family members.A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale.
