Glenn B. Cook, 67, of Shapleigh, passed away peacefully at Maine General Medical Center in Waterville on Saturday July 7th.Born on January 9, 1945, one of three children born to Irving W. and Elgena (Dick) Cook, Glenn was born at a naval base in Roxbury, Massachusetts while his father was at sea.A graduate of Sanford High School in 1963, Glenn also attended Brewster Academy in Wolfboro, New Hampshire before returning home to Shapleigh to work on the family farm and for his father's construction company, Cook's Construction. In later years, Glenn owned several trucks, and as an independent trucker, he shipped loads throughout the US for companies such as Hemingway and Midwest Coast.A stubborn man who was quite handy on the farm and with anything mechanical, Glenn often repaired things by unconventional methods that somehow always seemed to work. Glenn very much had a green thumb and loved gardening. Glenn would not hesitate to engage strangers on virtually any topic, and was completely comfortable doing so. He was a fan of classic country music and was prone to giving pet names to everyone and everything.Glenn will sadly be missed by his two daughters Glenda J. Cook of Shapleigh, and Ashley H. Cook of Springvale.Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, beginning at 11:00 AM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, where a funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Alfred.Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
