Resided in:
Sanford, Maine
Glen Allen Ridley, 91, passed away peacefully at his home in Springvale on Tuesday, September 20, 2022.
He was born on April 11, 1931, to Allen and Mildred (Ham) Ridley at home in Springvale where he grew up and attended local schools, graduating from Sanford High School in 1949.
He was employed as a Postal Carrier in Springvale for over 30 years. After retirement from the Postal Service, Glen was a bus driver for 20 years, retiring from there at 83 years of age.
Glen was also president of Riverside Cemetery in Springvale for many years.
His faith was very important to him. He spent most of his life as a member of the Pleasant Street Free Baptist Church in Springvale and proudly served in various positions over the years including lifetime trustee and deacon.
Glen started out very young with his father being in the woods, and that love continued all his life, he liked to be out cutting firewood even until very recently.
He also enjoyed his antique cars and was a member of the Maine Obsolete Auto League.
Being a loving and giving person, Glen would help anyone in need anyway he could.
He truly loved his family the most, and spending time with them. He was beloved to them, especially his grandchildren.
He was the last survivor of six brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years (they just celebrated their anniversary on September 1), Marilyn Ridley of Springvale, his daughter Donna Hodgdon of Sanford, his son Douglas Ridley and his wife Sharon of Shapleigh, grandchildren Evan Ridley and his wife Faith of Springvale and Alyssa Oliveira and her husband Joao of Fall River, MA, and great grandchildren Xavier Glen Ridley and Maverick Douglas Ridley (who is arriving in December), and many nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022, from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. with a Remembrance of Glen's Life at 2:00 P.M. at the Pleasant Free Baptist Church at 10 Pleasant St., Springvale.

Our condolences go out to Marilyn, Doug, Sharon and the entire Ridley family. Glen was a true gentleman and a dedicated mail carrier that I remember in my youth. He was always willing to take time to speak regardless of how busy he might be. A wonderful citizen of Springvale.
Sincerely,
Alden Thayer
Marilyn and my dad Carroll Wilson were cousins. Glen and my dad spent a lot of outdoor time together and enjoyed each others company. Our family greatly enjoyed seeing Glen’s antique cars. Our family will miss Glen. May he rest in peace. Bruce and Shirley Wilson. Gary Wilson.
Oh, Glen, so sorry to hear this. Haven’t seen you in quite some time, now. You have always been highly thought of and you will be missed. I always enjoyed talking with you at work. I remember our dinner outings at work with you and Marilyn. A truly wonderful man.
Very nice man. Will miss him.
I grew up on Bodwell Court in Springvale just across the street from Glen. I didn’t get to know him well until I started driving a school bus in Sanford. I eventually was asked to drive in Acton where Glen and I spent 12 years driving together. I considered it more fun than work because Glen liked to tell jokes and laugh. We had a great time together working early in the morning until the children were safe at home. I shall forever cherish the best of times working with Glen. I pray for his family and that he is he is having the best of times with his heavenly God and family. Rest in peace, Amen
So many memories over the last 50 years. When we first moved into town he brought us a heater since we had no heat as they renovated the office down stairs. He also gave us bikes to ride once spring came. I remember many fun stories and he and Marilyn retelling the history of Springvale and the surrounding areas. He loved to garden and share the produce. He and Paul brought dozens of loads of leaves from the church to our garden. I’m sure he heard those wonderful words “ well done good and faithful servant “.
We will miss you
Sending my condolences to Glens family.
Donna and family, So sorry to hear of your Dad passing. Our sincere condolences and prayers to all. With Love, Ricky & Rachel (Collette) Burbank
My sincere condolences to Glen’s family. God has called him to his heavenly home, having finished his work on earth. My thoughts are with you all.
It was so nice to have visited with Glen and Marilyn not too long ago and share memories of the good old days. Having known them a long long time. I will always remember him for his kindness.
Glen was a school bus driver co-worker. He was a great friend. Memories of our great talks and laughs. Will miss seeing him, and always waving in Springvale.

If anyone needed anything Glenn would step right up and help in anyway that he could. I remember when our bathroom flooded, Glenn came and helped to rip up the carpet and dry the floor. He was always giving of himself, his time, and his service. Well done good and faithful servant.
