Germaine T. “Gerry” Doiron

May 3, 1936 ~ November 18, 2025

Germaine “Gerry” Doiron, 89, of Sanford, passed away peacefully on November 18th at The Lodges Assisted Living in Springvale, ME surrounded by loving family.

Born on May 3, 1936, to Antoine and Antoinette Legere, Germaine was a lifelong resident of Sanford. She attended local schools and graduated from St. Ignatius High School with the Class of 1954.

A devout Catholic, Gerry was a dedicated communicant of Holy Family Church/St Therese of Lisieux Parish, where her faith guided her throughout her life. Germaine devoted herself to being a full-time mother, embracing all the joy, work, and love that role brings. For many years, she also shared her time and talents as an exercise instructor in many local elder care facilities, where she brought energy and encouragement to others.

At home, Germaine found satisfaction in sewing and took pride in maintaining an immaculate
house. She always created a welcoming, comfortable space. She and her husband, Roger, spent many winters in Myrtle Beach, where she enjoyed still-life painting and the simple pleasures of warmer weather.

Germaine will be remembered for her love, her patience, her pride in her family, and her timeless sense of style and beauty. She touched many lives with her warmth and grace, and she will be dearly missed. She was a 25 year breast cancer survivor.

She is predeceased by her parents, and her brother Armand Legere.

Survivors include husband Roger Doiron of 68 years, her children Linda Coombs and her husband Scott of North Kingstown, RI; Karen Robinson and her husband Dean of Sanford; Mark Doiron and his wife Michele of Gorham and Kenneth Doiron and his wife Kari of Scarborough, her grandchildren Ethan Coombs, Breanna MacAlpine, Katherine Coombs, Meghan Doiron, Caleb Doiron, Vanly Griffith, Lucas Doiron, and Samira Doiron and great granddaughter Aurora MacAlpine, siblings Robert Legere, Rachel Leclerc, Simone Forest and Monique Cote, all of Sanford.

  5. My heartfelt sympathies to Roger and your entire family on the loss of your wife and mother. Gerry was a radiant spirit whose presence will be deeply felt in her absence. My mother, Gertrude Legere Quirion, cherished the joyful moments she shared with Gerry and her sisters during their childhood and high school years, and more recently, during their winters spent in Myrtle Beach. I was inspired by the stories they shared, and I will always treasure those memories. Please know that you are surrounded by love and support as you navigate this new chapter in your lives, and may cherished memories of Gerry continue to uplift and guide you.
