Gerald W. Byron

Gerald W. Byron, 77, of Acton died Sunday, July 9, 2006 at St. Andre's Health Care Center in Biddeford. Gerald was born in Roxbury, MA on December 21, 1928 to Leo and Clara Byron. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Local 4 out of Boston and later worked as a machine operator at General Tire in Reading, MA. Recent years had been spent enjoying his retirement. Mr. Byron was a communicant of St. Ignatius Church in Sanford. He was and avid fisherman and a lover of animals; he was particularly for of his dog Daisy. Gerald was a very family oriented person. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be remembered as a kind and loving man and an all around good person. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Surviving are his wife, Kathleen Byron, of Acton; two sons, Stephen W. Byron of Chelsea, MA and Paul F. Byron and his wife Eva of Kittery Point; two daughters, Patricia L. Hess and her husband John of Wakefield, MA and Kathleen M. Byron of Calais and three grandchildren, Colleen Hess, Oscar Byron and Michael A. Bodkin. Funeral services for Mr. Byron will be private. Arrangements are through Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home in Springvale. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions my be sent to the Animal Welfare Society, Inc., P.O.
