GEORGIA T. KOSTISSpringvaleGeorgia T. Kostis, 88, of Springvale died on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Huntington Common in Kennebunk. She was born on June 3, 1928 the daughter of James and Athena Therianos in Sanford where she grew up and attended local schools graduating from Sanford High School. She and her husband were avid sailors racing "Morning Wind" and active members of the Falmouth Yacht Club. Together they also enjoyed golf and skiing in southwest Colorado. Over the years she had many fond memories of time spent with friends and family on Mousam Lake and wintering in Florida. She was a member of the local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for 61 years, and a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Saco. Having many talents she was a painter and an excellent cook, especially of Greek foods. Georgia was a caring person with a big heart. She was very social, liked to tell jokes and will be dearly missed.Georgia was predeceased by her husband Frank Kostis, a granddaughter Sarah Kostis, brothers Paul and Spero Therianos and sister Mary Mekkelsen.Survivors include daughter Donna Kostis of Sanford, son Stephen Kostis and partner Betty Wills of Alfred, granddaughters Jessica Zeldner and husband Zachary of Boulder, Colorado, Risa Kostis and fiance Jason Charles of Phoenix, Arizona, Gina Lilley and husband Brandon of Phoenix, Arizona, great grandchildren Sawyer and Sammy Zeldner, and Dutch Lilley, sister Rena Morin and husband Edgar of Springvale, sister in-law Dorothy Therianos of Alfred, brother in-law Nicholas Kostis of Boston, and several nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives are invited for a time of visitation on Thursday, May 11 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale.A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 12 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 186 Bradley St. in Saco.
