George Louis Turner, 88, of Sanford, Me. passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, March 22, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.
George was born on June 29, 1932 to Theodore and Alice (Cole) Turner in Reading, Massachusetts where he grew up and attended local schools. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. In 1957 he married the love of his life Constance Pike and together they shared 63 years of marriage and raised three wonderful boys. During his working life George was employed for many years as a firefighter for the Town of Reading, retiring after 30 years of service. He was a very hard working man who took pride in providing for his family.
George was very talented working with his hands, building his family camp on the "Turner Compound" on Flagstaff Lake in Dead River, Me. which they were able to enjoy for 40 years. He was a quiet man who liked spending time at home with his family. He also enjoyed taking day trips with his wife Connie, reading and using his computer. He will be remembered as a kind and loving man who was devoted to his family and will be dearly missed.
George was predeceased by his siblings, June Cail, Albert Turner, Theodore Turner and Lorraine McCarthy and his brother-in-law, Phil Watson.
Surviving are his wife, Constance Mary ( nee Pike) Turner; three sons, Jeff Joseph Turner and his wife Maureen, Edward George Turner and his wife Julie and Timothy Robert Turner; seven grandchildren, Benjamin, Joshua, Jonathan and his wife Monika, Jillian, Rebecca, Alexander and Madison; his great-grandson Isaac; his sister, Ruth Watson; his brother-in-law, Robert McCarthy; his sister-in-law Leslie Turner and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 8:00 to 9:30 AM on Saturday, March 27th at Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home located at 29 Winter Street in Sanford. Me. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church located at 66 North Avenue, Sanford, Me. Private interment will be held at a later date at the Southern Maine Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Springvale, Me.
