Garfield Boutilier

SANFORD- Garfield"Boot" R. Boutilier, 86, passed away on February 12, 2023. He was born on February 21, 1936 in Houlton, Maine, the firstborn child of Hadley and Elma ( Andow )Boutilier. Boot grew up in Caribou, Maine. He graduated from Caribou High School in 1954 as class President. He served in the Korean War with the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Japan in Okinawa. He married the love of his life, Norma (Webb) Boutilier on September 21, 1958. They were married 58 years until Norma's death on February 24, 2017. Boot attended Ricker College, University of Maine, and Jacksonville University and received his BA degree in Accounting. Boot started his accounting career in Birmingham, Alabama and was the Controller for Sealtest Foods of Alabama. He then returned to Maine and served as the Chief Financial Officer of the following hospitals: Knox County General Hospital, Penobscot Bay Medical Center, Eastern Maine Medical Center, Exeter Hospital, Exeter, New Hampshire and retired after 19 years at Goodal Hospital in Sanford, Maine. He served in many community activities over his career. He was President of the Sanford/Springvale Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow, was a member of the Sanford/ Springvale Chamber of Commerce, American Legion, Elks Club, St. Andrew Lodge of the AF & Am, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Anah Temple, Little League Commissioner for Homewood, Alabama, Vice President of the Holiday Out Condominium Association of Jensen Beach, Florida, and Treasurer of the Chapel by the Sea of Jensen Beach, Florida. Surviving Boot are two sons, Garfield (Rick) R. Boutilier, Jr. and his wife, Sharon, of Kennebunkport, Maine, and Mark R. Boutilier and his wife, Jodie, of Flower Mound, Texas, six grandchildren, Matthew (wife Patricia), Kevin, Christopher (wife Jamie),Brendan, Paige , and Abigail, and one greatgrandchild, Margaret Boutilier. An interment ceremony is being planned for the summer to celebrate the lives of both Norma and Boot.
