SOUTH PORTLAND - Frank A. Leeman, 81, of South Portland died on August 26, 2011 at a local hospital after a lengthy illness. Frank was born in South Portland, a son of Charles L. and Jennie R. Fisher Leeman. He attended South Portland Schools. He worked 34 years in the shoe industy at Songo and Herman Shoes. He later went to work in the Maintenance Department at Southern Maine Technical College retiring after more than ten years of service. Frank married Gertrude A. Sullivan on May 9, 1951 at Holy Cross Church in South Portland, together they were long time communicants of the church. Frank enjoyed puttering around the house, fixing things, fishing, cutting wood and making alder baskets for the cemetery. Frank was predeceased by three brothers, Robert, Albert and Ernest. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gertrude Sullivan Leeman of South Portland; a brother, Lindwood Leeman of South Portland; a sister-in-law, Mary Moore of Gorham; a brother-in-law, James A. Sullivan, of South Portland; and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited at the chapel on Thursday, September 1, 2011at 11:15 a.m. followed by a 12:00 noon Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Cross Church, Corner of Broadway Cottage Road, South Portland.
