Francis J. Martin
Francis J. Martin, 83, of Sanford, died Sunday at the Newton Center in Sanford after a long illness.He was born in Sanford on June 8, 1924, a son of Wilfred and Ursula (Madore) Martin, attended Sanford schools and lived in the Sanford area most of his life.Mr. Martin was a US Army veteran of World War II, having served 24 months in the Pacific Theatre of Operations.For many years he was employed by the Saco-Lowell Shops which later became Maremont Corp. and Saco Defense from which he retired in 1989.He was a communicant of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish in Sanford.Mr. Martin was predeceased by his wife, the former Gloria Demers, in 2006.Survivors include 3 sons, Craig Martin and his wife Rachel of Sanford, Tim Martin and his wife Cindy of Wells, Kevin Martin and his wife Lisa of Shapleigh, a daughter, Kathleen Beaudoin and her husband Daniel of Sanford, a brother, Wilfred Martin of Biddeford, a sister, Fedora Lozowski of Sanford, 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.At his request, services will be private with burial to be in St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.
