Francis J. Duffy

Francis J. Duffy Sr., 85 years old, of Springvale, ME died Thursday, June 21, 2007 in Kennebunk, ME.Mr. Duffy was born in Boston, MA on January 8, 1922. He was the son of the late William P. and Maude E. Duffy. He attended Boston area schools, and like so many men of his generation he proudly served his country during WWII with the United States Army.Upon his return home from the war Mr. Duffy began a career as a Boston Firefighter. He remained a firefighter until his retirement.Mr. Duffy loved the outdoors, especially tending to his vegetable garden. He enjoyed stock car races, going to fairs, whale watching, and weightlifting.Mr. Duffy is predeceased by a son Francis J. Duffy Jr.Surviving are two daughters, Debra J. Nash of Springvale, Pamela A. Sweeney of Arkansas; two sons, Brian M. Duffy of Wells, Dennis P. Duffy of Sanford; two sisters, Muriel Duffy of Nashua, NH and Celia Landry of No. Andover, MA, a brother James Duffy of E. Boston, MA; seven grandchildren, Charles, Alan, Jason, Angela, Cheryl, Denise, Michael, and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.A period of visitation for Mr. Duffy will be held this Wednesday, June 27, 2007 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St. Sanford, ME.
