Francine M. Rideout

francine rideout
SCARBOROUGH Francine M. Rideout, 64, of Scarborough, died unexpectedly Sunday, May 1, 2016 at her home. Francine was born in Portland on October 31, 1951, a daughter of the late Francis and Mary (Fox) Corrigan. She was raised in Cape Elizabeth and graduated from Cape Elizabeth High School Class of 1970. Following high school, Fran attended ITT Technical Institute in Boston where she graduated with honors in 1972. She returned to Maine where she began working for the telephone company. On April 24, 1977, she married her best friend and the love of her life, Brian Rideout. In 1979, Francine and Brian welcomed their first child. Family was the most important aspect of her life. She loved and adored her best friend and husband, cherished her children, and worshipped her grandchildren. With her grandchildren, Fran enjoyed trips to Disney, days at the beach, and fun sleepovers. Fran was an incredibly talented person and enjoyed making jewelry, painting folk art, an old talent she recently rekindled, and knitting. She took pleasure in sharing her talents by knitting sweaters, hats and mittens for her children and grandchildren. Fran was a gifted artist and enjoyed making arts and crafts. She loved fashion and bright colors and was always well dressed. Her wardrobe was as big and bright as her smile and her personality. She had a knack for making those around her feel special. For over 25 years, Fran was employed by Maine Medical Partners and was well respected by friends and colleagues. Steve Kasabian, MMP Chief Administrative Officer and a longtime friend summed up her importance to MMP and beyond. He said, Frannie was one of the original leaders at MMP and played ongoing and crucial roles throughout the entire time MMP has existed. It is completely factual to say that there would simply not be an MMP were it not for her contributions and commitment throughout this time. Fran was largely responsible for nearly all conversions of our practices to IDX/Groupcast through the years. Her knowledge and her work ethic were unmatched. She retired a few years ago, but was drawn back to help us in various areas of the organization due to her exceptional skills and her warm personality. It is hard to imagine anyone at MMP more resourceful than Frannie and we cannot thank her enough for all that she did for MMP. Perhaps more important, however, were the contributions outside of those related to our business. Were it not for Frannie, we would not have a Childrens Holiday Party as well as so many other events that her crafts and commitment made come alive to benefit so many people. Whether it be Honor Night, Santa Calling, or office events of every size and scale, Fran was at the center of those events. Her selfless giving of time, talent and heart is unmatched and will survive as our true memory of Fran. She was a very, very special lady with a heart ten times her size. It is safe to say that the world lost one of its finest people with her passing. During retirement, Fran and her husband enjoyed spending some time with friends and family in Gulfport, Florida. She will be deeply missed by family and friends and everyone who was fortunate to have known her. Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Brian Rideout of Scarborough; three children, Shawn Rideout and his wife Danielle of Yarmouth, Courtney Rideout and her fianc Katie Gagnon of Portland, and Brandon Rideout and his wife Jaedra of South Portland; five grandchildren, Emery, Drea, Sam, Bennett, Brian; a brother John and his wife Onalee Corrigan of Gorham; two sisters, Patricia Jordan and her husband Jodie of Cape Elizabeth; Janet Gildard and her husband John of Cape Elizabeth; a sister-in-law Peggy Deveau and her husband David of Woodland; a brother-in-law Gregg Rideout and his wife Michelle of Caribou; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special friend, Kathleen Hardaway of Boston. Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday from 4-7PM at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11AM at St. Bartholomew Church, 8 Two Lights Rd., Cape Elizabeth. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Cape Elizabeth. In memory of her father, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimers Association, Maine Chapter, 383 US Route One, Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074.
