Florence M. Jones

SCARBOROUGH - Florence M. Jones, 87, died October 7, 2014 at Falmouth by the Sea Nursing Home. She was born in Portland on September 20, 1927, the daughter of Arthur Deakin, Sr. and Nellie G. Bonnie Deakin. She was a graduate of Deering High School. Florence worked for New England Telephone until her marriage to Fred W. Jones, Jr. of Sanford in 1948. The couple lived in many different states up and down the East Coast due to Fred's job of designing bridges for Howard, Needles, Tammen and Bergendoff. In the late 60's, they settled in Scarborough, where until Fred's death in 2006, they lived out the remainder of their 58 year marriage. In, 2013, Florence moved to Bay Square at Yarmouth to be closer to her niece. Surviving Florence are her brother, Arthur Deakin, Jr. and his wife Glennis; her niece Kimberly Deakin Darling and Gary; her great nephew Christopher Darling and his wife Heidi and their three children, and her great niece Amy Darling Freese and her husband Richard and their two children.
