Fernand A. Chabot
Fernand Antonio Chabot 89, of Sanford, died peacefully after battling a short illness on November 10, 2016. He was born and raised in Sanford on April 4, 1927, one of six children of Rosa and Romeo Chabot. He was a hard working man that started work at a young age on the family dairy and delivering papers. As soon as he was of age he volunteered to serve our country in the Navy during WWII. Upon returning from the service he finished high school and attended the Pennsylvania Institute School of Trades to become a commercial bricklayer. This work brought him to Philadelphia, New York, Hartford Connecticut, Portland, Maine and parts of Canada to construct office buildings and hospitals. Once he retired from work he became an avid golfer. He very much enjoyed his time playing at the Sanford Country Club on the Seniors League. Fern was also very strong in his Catholic faith attending St. Ignatius and later Holy Family Parish.In 1968, Fern was briefly married to Pauline Grondin Clark and had his only child, Rebecca (Engle) who survives him along with her husband David, their children Rachel and Alexandra and grandson Silas. Also surviving are his brother Valde Chabot, sisters Cecile Shea, Teresa Angers, Mariette Rossignol, many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by both parents and younger brother George Chabot. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 15th at 10AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church in Sanford.
