Eugene Forrest Weeks, beloved husband, father, grampa, brother, and son age 78 passed peacefully into Gods loving arms on March 19th, 2020. Eugene "Weeksie" Weeks was born on December 11th, 1941 in Springvale, Maine to Forrest P and Hazel Hill Weeks, but was lovingly raised by his Aunt &Uncle Marion Weeks Pickett & Maurice Pickett and his devoted stepmother Carrie Weeks after the passing of his Father at a very young age. He attended Sanford schools and graduated from Sanford High in 1960 and SMVTC in 1962. Gene then proudly enlisted and served in the United States Air Force from 1962-1967. He was stationed at Whiteman Air Force base in Missouri where he was part of the "Strategic Air Command" and Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Command. In the summer of 1967 he was honorably discharged and moved home to Maine with his small family where he built his first home himself on Farview Drive in Sanford and began his career at The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He was a General Foreman in shop 56 (AC/Refrigeration/subs) and taught many electrical & Refrigeration night school classes for years. He made many lifelong friends and memories while employed there. Just before his "early out" retirement he moved his family to his land on Mousam River and built his dream home (his Log Cabin) with a few of those friends. He named it "Hawks Nest". He, his brother and sister bought out "Austin's" store on the corner of route 4 and 109 and made it their own, now known as Lil General Store. After turning the store over to his sister, he restored the Weeks family farm and opened Weeks Farm Produce which he ran with his family until closing in 1996. In 2000, he moved with his wife Sally to Loon Pond in Acton Maine. He remodeled a little camp in to a full house and garage (his cave). While in retirement he was anything but retired. He worked for Acme sheet metal, D F Richard, National Passport Center, WestPoint Stevens, (his favorite) Square Pond Ferry operator, and lastly Jarvis in Rochester NH, all while going back to college, acquiring many new licenses, building houses and traveling around in his RV with his wife Sally to special family places like Jo Mary Campground. This man of many talents, jack of all trades, and skilled craftsman could do anything and all he put his mind to. He could fix anything, build anything from the ground up. We cannot possibly put into words all that Gene meant to so many. To Know him was to love him. A Collector of many things..... his favorite was Guns! He was a Gunsmith, a perfectionist at restoring them, enjoyed gun shows and shooting with his buddy Bob at the range whenever they could. A car enthusiast, a master mechanic to all.... He loved cars from the 1930 Model A to the newest sports car. A mathematician, a teacher, architect a gifted artist, dedicated soldier and employee. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed golf, skiing, motorcycles, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, ice and fly fishing with his family and Uncles at the Hunting camp in the Allagash when he was young. A detailed storyteller, he could talk for days on end of all the adventures and projects he had with his brother Al and cousin Arthur Perkins including Huge family gardens, car restorations and building a Willy Jeep. He loved the water! Growing up spending Summers at the beach camp in Wells with his Nana and then later with his children. Yearly vacations to Boothbay harbor He passed his love of the water on to all his kids and sailing is a passion he passed on to his daughters teaching them to sail and be the best first mates. Of course, he got his Captains License just because. In addition to building houses he enjoyed woodworking and made beautiful furniture, cabinets, long bow, a musket, carved wood frames and more. He loved Music, singing, dancing and taught himself to play guitar and the organ. He loved technology of any kind. Food, he loved food and to cook, barbeques, and a family gathering of any kind! He could be found in his yard playing with his tractor, pulling stumps, grading and of course plowing his driveway meant everyone's driveway. A Christian by faith, a true gentleman, a confident, the first to volunteer, the last to leave. Gene led by example, instilling strong morals and family values to his children and grandchildren. He had love and patience without end. His family and close friends were his greatest treasures. His heart was so big he made himself available day or night to everyone who called on him to help. He was a supportive and positive influence and rarely ever complained or got mad. He always gave 150% and never expected anything in return. His love was unconditional! In these last few years, he struggled with health issues but remained optimistic and never gave up. He loved tinkering in his garage, helping with the grandchildren, a little fishing, visiting Moosehead lake, cooking for his wife, car shopping, helping to remodel and restore his daughter and son-in laws home. He helped his son to get back the family land on Mousam river and together they restored "hawks nest" and made memories. Enjoying every flower, deer, fox, and bird that visited. There will never be enough words to describe how much he will be missed. He will hold a special place in all of our hearts today and always. Our lives are richer because he lived. He was loved beyond measure. Eugene is survived by his loving wife of 20 years Sally L.
