Eugene Alden Maynard

Portland - Eugene Alden Maynard formerly of Danforth Street, died Saturday, June 17, 2017, at the Barron Center with his two daughters Anna and Rhonda by his side. Eugene was born in Dexter, Maine, son of Alden Eugene and Cilissa Sinclair Maynard on February 28, 1928. Eugene enlisted in the National Guard in 1947 and retired in 1988 as SGT of Company D 133rd ENGR BN (CBT) (HV). He worked at General Electric as a welder, Eugene volunteered many years at the Preble Street Resource Center. He loved to stay busy doing yard work, growing gardens, cooking and hunting. Eugene was predeceased by his wife Anna May Horr of 40 years and his brother John T Maynard. He is survived by his 6 children, Delilah F Freeman of Buxton, John T Maynard of Skowhegan, Katherine A Fortin of Portland, Donna M Stuart of Lewiston, Rhonda J Hare of Buxton and Anna M Yates of Buxton, 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
