Ernestine Y. Roux
SANFORD Ernestine Y. Roux 86, died Monday of pancreatic cancer. She was born in Durham, P.Q., Canada May 8, 1921 a daughter of Ernest & Marie (Cote) Cote. She moved to Sanford with her family at the age of two. She would later attend the former St. Ignatius school. She became a naturalized US citizen in 1942.Ernestine was employed at the former Sanford Textile Mills until they closed in 1954. She later worked at Seamloc carpet and Jagger Mills, retiring from there.She married her husband Hector in St. Ignatius Church in 1942. Together they raised four children.She was a long time communicant of St. Theres of Lisieux Parish, St. Ignatius Church. She enjoyed making towels, knitting, crocheting and making crafts. She was also a Red Sox fan.Mrs. Roux was pre-deceased by her parents, and sisters, Juliette, Bernadette and Yvonne.Survivors are her husband of 66 years, Hector, her daughter Claire Bergeron and her husband Ronald three sons, Donald and his wife Denise, Daniel and his wife Connie and James and his wife Cindy, all of Sanford. Two sisters, Lucienne Michaud and Clarisse Collette both of Sanford. Nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 :00 AM in St. Theres of Lisieux Parish, St. Ignatius Church. Burial will be in St. Ignatius cemetery.
