Emily E. Bailey

Emily Bailey 87, of Wells, died on Thursday, June 25 at Newton Center in Sanford. Born to Claude O. and Laurinda (Bryant) Bailey on December 5, 1927, Emily grew up in Saco and attended local schools, graduating from Thornton Academy. She married Warren Bailey and they were married for over 30 years, until his passing. A woman with a great sense of humor, she enjoyed many hobbies, including bird watching, gardening, and watching cooking shows on television, though she always strayed from the recipes. Emily had a strong affection for animals, including her own pets, she also supported the ASPCA. She was a faithful and active member of the Church of the Prince of Peace in Sanford.Survivors include a son, Albert Sampson of Wells, a daughter Donna Clark and her husband David of Porter, several step-children, and several nieces and nephews including William Allen Bailey.She is predeceased by a brother, Claude Evans and a daughter Claudia J. Proctor.A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 29, at 2:00 at the Church of the Prince of Peace at 899 Main St. in Sanford.As an expression of sympathy, contributions can be made to the memorial fund at the Church of the Prince of Peace.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes &Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
