ELIZABETH ANN MONROEWEST NEWFIELD, MAINEElizabeth "Betty" Monroe, 46, of the South Effingham Road, died Friday, May 25,2001 at Maine Medical Center in Portland, following a long battle with caner. She was born September 17, 1955 in Natick, MA, a daughter of David G. and Nancy (Turner) Powell, Sr. She lived here for the past 23 years, coming from Natick.She was a graduate of Natick (MA) High School. After moving to Maine, she worked for Nike Shoe in Kennebunk, Twin Ridge Corporation in Acton and was a secretary for Goodall Library in Sanford. She had been a stay at home homemaker and mother since 1988. However, she did volunteer at the Line School in Limerick/Newfield.Besides her parents of Newfield, she is survived by her husband of 13 years, Ronald L. Monroe of West Newfield; two sons, Jake and Sam of W. Newfield; a step daughter, Veronica Monroe Kaminski of W. Newfield; 3 brothers, David Powell, Jr. of Appleton, ME, Philip Powell of New Gloucester, ME, Glen Powell of Milwaukee, WI; a sister, Kathy Tuttle of Albany, NY; and her mother-in-law, Phyllis Monroe Buck of Acton, ME.Relatives and friends may visit Saturday from 6-8 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, where funeral services will be held Sunday, May 27, 2001 at 1 PM. The Rev. Dewey Peterson, pastor of the Acton Congregational Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Parsonsfield.
