Elisabet Ann Randall Wiesman

PORTLAND - Elisabet Ann Randall Weisman, 91, died on October 19, 2012, of complications from a heart attack. She had been living at Seaside Nursing and Retirement Home since July 17, 2006. Elisabet was born in Stockholm, Sweden on July 17, 1921 to Minerva Randall and John Gronberg. She was predeceased by her three brothers: Basil, John and Alfred. Following the completion of her education in Sweden and a brief career within the Allied Command as an interpreter and clerk, she traveled to the United States, settling in Maine in 1946. While living in the United States, she maintained her Swedish citizenship and participated in cultural celebrations. For a number of years, she attended Swedish book club meetings. As a young mother, she was involved with the Girl Scouts of America, especially with their swimming program through the YMCA. Elisabet's people skills brought her employment in the public sector in administrative positions. While living in Massachusetts, she worked for Beth Israel Hospital in the admissions department for 25 years, retiring in 1997. After retiring, she returned to Maine to be closer to her daughter, Christine Brunette, and her son, Philip Weisman. Elisabet enjoyed visiting her six grandchildren: Thomas, Ina and Jennie Brunette, and Shannon (Bianci), Sarah (Chace) and Jonathan Weisman. She treasured pictures of her great-grandchildren: Parker, Lila, Collin, Caitlin and Nathan. When well, she pursued her love of rose gardening, knitting, and table games like Scrabble and BINGO! Elisabet excelled in cooking and baking sweets was a favorite endeavor.
