Eleanor (Ellie) M. Finn, 94, of Sanford, Maine passed away peacefully on December 31, 2021. Ellie was born in Somerville, Massachusetts to Salvatore and Giovanna LaFauci on December 27, 1927. Aside from her family, Ellie's greatest devotion was to the military. After graduation from Somerville High School, she received a full scholarship to Fisher Jr. College, Boston, MA. and attended for one year before leaving to serve in the United States Navy. After she left active duty she became a proud civil servant at the Boston Naval Shipyard and subsequently the Civilian Payroll office at Pease Air Force Base, Portsmouth, NH for over 30 years. Ellie had the opportunity to spend many wonderful years in Portsmouth, NH, Spring Hill, FL and Sanford, ME. She had developed close friendships in those communities and she often spoke fondly about those relationships over the years. Family and friends would describe Ellie as independent, hard-working, witty, clever and determined. Ellie was loved by many and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Ellie is preceded in death by her father, Salvatore LaFauci, mother Giovanna LaFauci, brother John LaFauci, brother Philip LaFauci, brother Santo LaFauci, brother Joseph LaFauci and sister Mary Snyder.Ellie is survived by her son John J. Finn and his wife Sandra of Effingham, NH, daughter Laura Finn Nickerson of Dallas, TX, sister Lil Greeley, grandchildren Darby Finn, Kelly Jackson, Nathan John Nickerson and his wife Parnaz, Kathryn Batchelder Nickerson and great grandchildren Kelsi Smith and Caleb Jackson. Ellie was a devoted sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. The family wishes to acknowledge the Maine Veteran's Home in Scarborough, ME with appreciation. There will be a full military honors burial at the Southern Maine Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Springvale, ME on Friday June 3rd at 11AM.Condolences may be expressed at www.blackfuneralhomes.com
