Eleanor A. Bourque

Eleanor "Ellie" A. Bourque, 80, of Springvale, passed away at her home in the loving care of her family on Friday April 28, 2017. She was born in Sanford on October 16, 1936 a daughter of the late George and Arrietta (Cotton) Hersom. She attended Sanford schools and graduated from Sanford High School in 1955. Soon after graduation she married William "Billy" Bourque who was the love of her life. He always called her Ellie and she was known as Ellie to her family and closest friends.After her beloved Billy died she would only introduce herself as Eleanor to the people she met because "Ellie" was his name for her and she missed him so much. They were married 43 years and together they raised four children in the Sanford- Springvale area. Once the children were out of school they lived in Bermuda fro 10 years and Ellie would give tours of the island to any family member who visited.Over the years Eleanor worked as a hairdresser and cake decorator. She also worked at Rix Pharmacy, Springvale Sportswear and Nasson College. Eleanor was an Auxiliary member of the American Legion and AMVETS and she was also a proud member of the "G.I.Dames". She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and some of the grandchildrens fondest memories are of baking cookies and doing puzzles with grammy. She also enjoyed genealogy, gardening, the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and Tome Jones.Eleanor was predeceased by her parents, her husband, William and son in law, William Powell.She is survived by her brothers, George and his wife, Carol Hersom of Sanford and Leroy and wife Nancy Hersom of Shapleigh, sons, William "Wilbur" and his wife, Pattie Bourque of Sanford and Dwayne and his wife, Lisa Bourque of Acton, daughters, April Powell of Springvale and Dawn and husband Jean Boisvert of Youngsville, North Carolina, grandchildren, Theresa and husband Normand Pelletier, Denise and husband, Lucas Longfellow, Cheri and husband Matt Janz, Renae Boisvert, Gregory and wife, Ashley Bourque, Tiffany and husband, Justin Valiquet, Meagan and husband Andrew McLatchy, Summer Bourque, Tiffany Bourque, Jay Pierce, Kari and husband Josh Goodson and Aliesha Pierce, great grandchildren, Seth Powell, Alexander Longfellow, Bradley Longfellow, Matthew Coppola, Shane Pelletier, Eliza Janz, Lila Valiquet, Eloise "Ellie" Valiquet, Everest McLatchy, Scarlet Goodson, Sophia Goodson, Carter Goodson and friend Robert Provost.Eleanor will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. The family wishes to thank VNA Home Hospice for all their help and support during her final days with us.A funeral service will be held for Eleanor on Thursday at 11AM at the Carll - Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
