Elaine L. (Arsenault) Pettit, 56, formerly of Sanford, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 5th at her home in Tacoma, Washington.She was born in Sanford on March 12, 1956, the daughter of Harvey and Lillian (Bachand) Arsenault.Elaine grew up in Sanford and was a graduate of Sanford High School. She graduated from Casco Bay College with a degree in medical transcription and from the University of Southern Maine with a degree in culinary arts.She worked as a medical transcriptionist at Mercy Hospital and at Maine Medical Center, both in Portland then moved with her husband Jacques Pettit to Tacoma.Elaine was well-loved by many. Her infectious laugh and big heart made it very easy for others to be her friend. She was the type who would do anything for anyone. Along with spending time with her friends and family, Elaine enjoyed the outdoors and her weekly cooking class. She will always be remembered for her smiling face, her generosity and her love of Maine seafood and beaches. Elaine will be missed dearly by all those who were fortunate enough to be a part of her life.She was predeceased by her father Harvey Arsenault in 2002. Survivors include her mother Lillian Arsenault, three brothers, James Arsenault and Michael Arsenault all of Sanford, Richard Arsenault of Seaside, CA, her aunt Elsie Case of Springvale, three nieces, Megan Arsenault and Kristen Arsenault, both of Sanford, Kendra Arsenault of Santa Cruz, CA, and two nephews, Harry and Julio both of Salinas, CA.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 23 at 10:00 AM at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish at Holy Family Church, 66 North Avenue, Sanford. Burial will be later in the spring in St. Ignatius Cemetery, Sanford.Black Funeral Homes & Cremation Service is assisting the family with local arrangements.
