Edward Donald Lovely, 81, of Lebanon, died at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 24, 2012.Edward was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on January 30, 1931 to Joseph Maguire Lovely and Margaret Alice (Dixon) Lovely. He was a very patriotic man with a deep love for his country. He demonstrated this by serving 20 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring with the rank of Chief Petty Officer.Edward was a member the First Parish Congregational Church in Lebanon and a charter member of the American Legion, Lebanon Memorial Post 214. He enjoyed being outdoors and working around the farm on his tractor. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing games. Edward was a fitness enthusiast. He was a member of the Sanford/Springvale YMCA for nearly 20 years where he worked out five days a week. Spending time with family was the most important thing in Edward's life. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.Edward was predeceased by eight siblings, Ethel Minnie Young, Alice Margaret Koons, Levona Gladys Gomes, Permilla Rena Whambley, Ruth Louise Lovely, Eva May Lovely, Walter Wayne Lovely and William Dixon Lovely and one grandchild, Earl Edward Duckworth.Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Janice Louise (Johnson) Lovely; nine children, Deborah Ann Levett and her husband Michael of Durhamville, NY, Dennis James Lovely and his wife Evelyn of Virginia Beach, VA, Douglas Allen Lovely and his wife Bea of Raymond, New Hampshire, Kim Marlene Hodge and her husband Bruce of Lebanon, Donald Edward Lovely and his wife Lorrie L. Lovely of Lebanon, Daniel Wayne Lovely and his wife Judy of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Darren Paul Lovely of North Berwick, Deanna Lynn Horne of Lebanon and Dana John Lovely of Lebanon; seven siblings, Barbara Irene Martel and her husband Adrien of Sanford, Joseph Maguire Lovely, Jr. and his wife Marion of Northwood, New Hampshire, Mary Jane Hathaway and her husband Elliot of Hooksett, New Hampshire, Elizabeth Ann Smith of Deerfield, New Hampshire, Ellen Jean Beland and her husband Leo of Manchester, New Hampshire, Frank Lewis Lovely and his wife Sheila of Au Sable Forks, NY and Dorothy Cynthia Smith and her husband Alfred of Deerfield, New Hampshire; 20 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 AM with a funeral service being held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, December 1st at the First Parish Congregational Church located at 650 Center Road in Lebanon.
