Edward M. Dionne

Edward Michael Dionne, 61, of Sanford passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday July 23, 2013. Mike, as he was known to friends and family, was the son of the late Dr. William and Virginia Dionne. Mike was a graduate of St. Johns Preparatory School and later graduated from the University of Maine.After graduating Mike worked briefly as an accountant in Wells, ME but with the advent of computers he opened a computer store for many years in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.Mike came from a large family and was deeply loved by all for his shy, gentle manner and his capacity to see only the good in people. He carried this manner not only for his family and friendships, but in his teaching as well. Although Mike was born and raised in Sanford, he spent much of his adult life in Kennebunkport and returned to Sanford two years ago.Mike had a love of teaching and later went to work in the Wells High School, running their computer program and instructing students in the use and upkeep of their computers. He also taught computer use in the Adult Education program and taught seminars to local businesses as well. Michael's teaching skills made him a favorite of his students because he had a deep feeling and respect for all his students.Michael is survived by three brothers, William Dionne of Denver, Colorado, Mark Dionne of Sanford, ME, James Dionne of Bucksport, ME, two sisters, Patrice Hampden of Wrightsville, NC and Mariellen Dionne of Denver, Colorado. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.A private ceremony for family and close friends will held at a future date.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
