Edward Cushing
Edward John Cushing Jr. joined his parents, brother Danny, and sister Nina for the best Easter service yet on April 16, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Lisa; children Kemuel, Janna, Charity, and Abigail; grandchildren Kemuel and Jamee; sisters Donna, Norma, Anna, Heidi, and Ellie; and brothers Bill and Rich. Born August 28, 1945 to Ed Sr. and Effie, Ed grew up in Dorchester/Mattapan, Mass. In 1965 he responded to the draft, serving as a cook for the US Army in Germany and Vietnam, and signing on for another term when the required time was up. He came home searching for his calling, and began to learn what it was through a radio program called Telephone Time (later The Grace Hour). Ed joined The Bible Speaks in Lennox before moving to South Berwick, Maine to attend Bible college. During this time he began pestering friends and family by talking about the Word of God and leaving tracts, Bibles and devotionals when he visited; this behavior continued for decades. In South Berwick Ed met the other love of his life, Lisa Blanchard, and they wed in June 1979. Over the years children followed, as did Ed's involvement in Sunday school, bus and nursing home ministries. Throughout his life his faith wasn't just deeply personal, it was all-inclusive: he wanted everyone he loved to join him in Heaven some day. Armed with a guitar and Bible, Ed shared his love, humor and light with everyone he met.Services will be held April 28th, with interment at the Springvale Veterans' Cemetery at 2pm and Christian sendoff at the Bible Speaks at 7pm. Friends and family are invited to share food, stories and music at Janna's at 9 Turbini Lane in Berwick during and after these assemblies.Condolences may be expressed at www.blackfuneralhomes.com

I miss you, I am so, so glad that we met, and got to know each other.
meeting him at the shipyard.
Sharing that Loved with anyone, especially the elderly.
He loved the Lord but knew even more that the LORD loved him, and changed his heart for the better.
Share his faith with others.
His Joy.
He was free.
Out of the box normal.
every stinking time we met. No, seriously, every time we met.
To not be selfish.
His Love for People.
Non-Judgemental
His Salvation.
Not bound up with life, had a sense of destiny, freedom and liberty to created by the One that set him free…JESUS
My deepest condolences to the family and to the many that never got to know an amazing man/husband/father and friend
His wife, children, and the many that got to know the LORD through him.
Sharing that love God placed in his heart and letting them know they can have it too.
come backs, he was sharp and smart…we were walking in the submarine, and a sailor opened a playboy type magazine, and flashed the centerfold towards us, and Ed said, without hesitation: “Boy God sure make them”…we just kept walking.
His freedom, free from selfishness, not self conscience, loved people.
guitar…singing the hymns to the elderly.
Singing the song “Father Abraham” on his motorcycle, and their is a part where in the song it says, “stand up, turn around and sit down”…I asked him he did this while riding his bike…I think he did it! LOL
Everyday was special to him.
Met Ed at the Portsmouth Shipyard, Kittery, Maine. Worked together during the midnight shift.
