Eda A. Lufkin

SOUTH PORTLAND - Eda A. Lufkin, 93, of Dawson Street, died at her home on Thursday, August 7, 2014. Eda was born in Woodland, Maine on September 12 1920 the daughter of Alfred and Marie DeChene. She attended local schools there and graduated from Woodland High School. Following high school, Eda moved to Portland where she worked as a waitress and later, during World War II, worked as a welder in the Portland Shipyard. She later became and worked as a comptroller for AP Supermarkets. It was during these years that she married Raymond Lufkin and together they made their home in South Portland. Eda was predeceased by her husband Raymond. She is survived by a niece Marilyn Schmitt of Hingham, MA and a nephew Robert Geroux of Calais, ME along with many special nieces, nephews and friends. At the family's request all services will be private. Burial will be in the family lot in Woodland at a later date.
