Dorothy Searles

Dorothy Marie Searles, (Nadeau) age 76, of E. Waterboro, Maine passed away on December 18, 2019 from AML. Dottie was born on July 14, 1943 in Hartford, CT to Etta and Leon A. Nadeau, Sr. Dottie was predeceased by her husband, Raymond O. Searles; son, Jeffrey C. Searles; grandson, Derek Kenneth Fay; great-granddaughter, Elsie Rose Strout and her brother, Leon Nadeau. She is survived by three children: Pamela Fay and her husband, Duane of E. Waterboro; Cindy Strout and her husband Kevin of Biddeford and Ronald Searles and his wife, Penny of Springvale. She is also survived by two siblings: Dr. Ronald Nadeau and his wife Dr. Judith of St. Cloud, FL, and Beverly Fierro of Newington, CT and Leesburg, FL.Grandma leaves eleven grandchildren: Darien Fay, Devon Fay, Zach Strout and his wife, Sarah; Cody Strout and his wife, Victoria; Sarah Searles, Elijah Searles and his wife, Kaitlin; Benjamin Searles and his wife, Zoe; Joshua Searles, Miranda Faultz, Kayla Emery and Alyssa Searles. In addition, Grandma leaves seven great-grandchildren: Josiah, Levi, Maverick, Alexis, Hayleigh, Rihanna and Skyler. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews; a very dear friend, Nancy Wentworth and other friends she held very dear. As a teenager, Dottie's first job was working for George Miller Cleaners in Hartford, Ct. She also worked as a CNA for a short time at a local nursing home in York County. For twenty plus years, Dottie worked as a school bus driver. She began working for Marinel Transportation in Sanford, ME, driving school bus and working in the office to create the annual bus schedules and routes. She finished her career as a school bus driver for S.A.D. 57. During Dottie's time as a bus driver, she competed in numerous bus rodeos, bringing home several trophies. She stayed active in her earlier years by competing in bowling leagues, a favorite pastime. Dottie had an adventurous side and loved to travel. She visited many places, but her favorite place to visit was often wherever her family was. Soon came grandchildren and her heart leapt with the birth of each new addition to the family. She adored each and every one and held them close in her heart. Throughout Dottie's entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. It was Dottie's passion to be found in church when the doors were open, always doing her best to never miss a Sunday. She would help those around her, often picking up friends and taking them to church with her. Dottie had a generous and giving heart, and lived life with a joyful nature. Dottie loved her children and entire family fiercely, and was deeply committed to each of them. She always believed in them and continuously prayed over them. Her children adored their mother. A mother's love is the heart of her family, and we are thankful for the love of our mother. Calling hours will be Friday, December 27, 2019, at 12:00 noon, with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. A private graveside service will be held in the Spring.
