Dorothy L. "Dot" ScheileSpringvale, MEDorothy L. Scheile, 88 years old, formerly of Bethesda, MD, and most recently of Springvale, ME died Thursday, September 14, 2006 at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford.Mrs. Scheile was born on December 6, 1917 in Washington, D.C. She was the daughter of the late William and Dora (Dahle) Palmer. She attended McKinley High School in Washington, D.C., and during WWII she worked as an administrative assistant for the United States Government.Mrs. Scheile moved to Maine in the late 70's, first to Eliot, then to Springvale. At a young age Mrs. Scheile was widowed, and raised her son by herself since he was the age of 12. It was by her will, determination and independence that she was able to provide a loving home for her son.Mrs. Scheile was a very outgoing woman. She enjoyed traveling, often taking bus trips and cruising to Bermuda. Her outgoing and sweet personality made it easy for her to make friends along the way.Mrs. Scheile was predeceased by her husband Ottice R. Scheile, and a brother Ora J. Palmer.Surviving are a son William Scheile of North Berwick, and two grandsons, Aaron Scheile of west Palm Beach, FL, and Craig Scheile of North Hollywood, CA.A period of visitation for Mrs. Scheile will be held Monday, September 18, 2006 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St. Springvale, ME. Services will be held at the funeral home the following day at 10:30 AM. Dorothy will be interred with her husband in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions in Dorothy's name be sent to the National Kidney Foundation of Maine, P.O. Box 1134, Portland, ME 04104.
